Euan Hankey made a brilliant debut for CRS Racing at Silverstone last weekend, taking fourth place in race two, after being out of racing for over a year. The 22-year-old from Taunton in Somerset was also given the Driver of the Day award for his cracking performance. Harry Tincknell had a good weekend and now has a massive 46-point lead in the Graduate Cup standings, with just two more events to go. Hankey qualified well for both races, earning himself seventh and sixth places on the grid for his CRS debut. In race one he lost a couple of places to finish ninth but in race two he blasted through to fourth place, after a race-long battle with two of his CRS team-mates, leading Scott and Tincknell over the line for a 4-5-6 finish for CRS. Going into the Silverstone weekend Harry Tincknell knew his job was to build on his lead in the Graduate Cup. After having recently been reinstated in the Donington results, Harry’s fourth and sixth place finishes at Silverstone now give him a very comfortable lead in the standings. He too had performed well in qualifying, taking a fifth and a third. He was actually for third place in race two with two laps to go but ran wide and dropped to sixth, but the 40 points he scored last weekend are a great reward for such good work. Josh Scott struggled in qualifying for race one, only scoring an uncharacteristic 14th place on the grid. His ultimate DNF in that race just added insult to injury. The plucky Aussie made amends in race two though; starting from fifth on the grid he fought hard with Euan and Harry during the race and came home safe in fifth place. Lewis Williamson was pleased with seventh place in race one but disappointed to be unlucky 13th in race two, whilst Mick Lyons had a difficult weekend, only managing 15th place in race one. The Formula Renault UK Championship heads to Rockingham next for the penultimate rounds of 2009. Racing gets underway on Sunday 20 September. |
